Chicken Kondattam
Have been seeing this delicious looking dish on the social media feed of many of my friends. Loved how the dish looked and have been wanting to try it. I searched for the recipe of the same and saw it on the YouTube channel of Veena’s Curry World. Since many of my friends and relatives have suggested her recipes, I knew that her recipe is most definitely going to be perfect. And as expected it was amazing! This is an appetiser you must try. The spicy, tangy and sweet appetiser will definitely be a hit!

Chicken Kondattam
A spicy and flavourful chicken appetiser.
Ingredients
Marinade
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
- 1 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
- 750 gms Chicken curry cut pieces
- Salt as per taste
Masala
- 8 nos Dry red chilli
- 20 nos Shallots
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 2 sprigs Curry leaves
- 2 nos Green chilli optional
- ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- ½ tsp Coriander powder
- ½ tsp Garam masala
- 4 tbsp Tomato sauce
- 1½ tsp Chilli flakes
- Oil
- Salt as per taste
- ¼ cup Hot water
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken with all the ingredients under marinade and refrigerate overnight or atleast 2 hours.
- Heat oil and fry the chicken and set aside.
- In the same oil fry dry red chilli and set aside.
- Heat 3-4 tbsp of oil ,saute shallots ,green chilli ,curry leaves ,salt and ginger garlic paste till translucent.
- Add the masala powders and the chilli flakes and mix well till the raw smell is gone.
- Add the tomato sauce to the masala alongwith the hot water. Heat the masala till it starts bubbling.
- Add the fried chicken to the masala and mix well and let it reduce to a desirable consistency.
- Add the fried chilli and curry leaves and mix well.
